Rockdale County Water Resources
Rockdale County Water Resources (RWR) has issued a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for customers located in the northern portion of Rockdale County following damage to a 12-inch water main.
On the evening of August 4, 2026, a private contractor accidentally damaged a 12-inch water main near the intersection of Sigman Road and Rockbridge Road, resulting in low water pressure for customers in the affected area. RWR crews responded immediately, repaired the damaged water main, thoroughly flushed the affected water line, and restored normal water service at approximately 1:00 a.m. on August 5, 2026.
As a precaution, customers in the affected area and north of I-20 are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or preparing food until further notice. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute and allowed to cool before use.
Although there is no evidence of contamination, low water pressure can increase the risk of contaminants entering the water distribution system. Therefore, this advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution to protect public health.
During the advisory, Rockdale County Water Resources will collect water samples throughout the affected area and conduct comprehensive water quality testing to ensure the drinking water meets all state and federal safety standards. The advisory will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe for normal consumption.
Rockdale County Water Resources appreciates the patience and cooperation of our customers while we complete the required testing. A follow-up notification will be issued as soon as the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.
